A Special Session was presented at our Winter Meeting on January 23 and is now available to all our site visitors! Rare Disease and Gene Therapy provides lectures discussing medical approaches to treat or prevent disease by modifying a person's genetic material (DNA or RNA) to correct faulty genes, introduce new genes, or alter existing ones. This therapy is aimed at fixing the root genetic cause rather than treating symptoms and often uses modified viruses as vectors to deliver healthy genetic instructions into cells for long-term correction. Dr. Barry Greenberg leads off the session with an introductory lecture.
