Heart failure management is changing rapidly. The primary goal of the 32nd Annual San Diego Summer Heart Failure Symposium is to provide a comprehensive overview of advances in our understanding of the causes of heart failure and the best approaches for treating this disease in its varying forms. To accomplish this, we have assembled an exciting program that combines a series of focused lectures, case discussions and Q & A sessions that will help bring practicing clinicians up to date on the best approaches for treating their patients.
To provide adequate coverage of the expanding world of heart failure, the 32nd Annual Symposium will run over 2.5 days, rather than 2 days as in the past. This will allow individuals to get up to date information about a greater number of topics at a more leisurely pace. Attendees will also be able to tailor their schedules so that they can listen to the topics that they deem most relevant to their own practices
This year ‘s Symposium will include sessions on cardiogenic shock and pre-shock, the cardiorenal metabolic syndrome, the important role of aldosterone metabolism in heart failure and kidney disease, amyloid and other infiltrating cardiomyopathies, HFpEF, genetics and gene therapy, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and HFrEF. Included in the program are the Founders Lecture that will help us better understand the role of adipose tissue in cardiac and renal disease and the annual Stanley H. Lloyd MD lecture that will provide an insight into the future management of heart failure. Additional talks will cover biomarkers, management of atrial fibrillation, prevention of sudden cardiac death, treatment of pulmonary hypertension, and an update on imaging modalities, These talks will provide a comprehensive overview of the new drugs, devices and strategies that are available (or on the horizon) for treating patients with heart failure and they will include practical approaches for patient selection and implementation. Notably, each day of the Symposium will start with a series of illustrative case vignettes, each one highlighting a different management strategy.
For this year’s symposium, we have recruited a world-renowned faculty representing multiple disciplines as well as patient advocates who will provide important perspectives on how patients are managed. As in the past, the Symposium will be presented in hybrid format. We encourage providers to attend the live presentations at the beautiful Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines where they can interact with their colleagues, speakers and industry representatives over the 2.5 day symposium. For those who can’t attend in person, on-line streaming of all sessions will be available
I am very much looking forward to seeing you in La Jolla on July 9, 10 & 11, 2026 for the 32nd Annual San Diego Heart Failure Summer Symposium.
